Vanadis is a lighting concept based on three curved sheets of stainless steel. The layered, wave-like form reflects the passing of time at Vanadisbadet, the historic Stockholm bath from which the project takes its name. Two concealed linear LEDs reflect light against the inner surfaces and softly into the room. The project explores how a simple sheet of metal can become structure, reflector and expression. The concept is developed as both a floor lamp and a pendant.
This first prototype measures 450 mm and is unexpectedly heavy. The next step is to develop a larger 900 mm version while exploring ways to reduce its weight.
